Jackson Cole Westmoreland is a miniature painter from Florence, Alabama, whose work focuses on table-top, display, box art, and competition-level miniatures for sci-fi and fantasy. His approach combines discipline and experimentation, often favoring Non-Metallic Metals (NMM) and saturated color placement to create depth and vibrancy. While he claims not to have a defined style, his pieces consistently show an eye for energy, light, and storytelling through color.
Jackson's path into miniature art began with a simple goal-to paint his army better and faster. What followed was an obsessive pursuit of skill through what he calls "YouTube Academy,' devouring every painting tutorial he could find. In 2022, he joined Clay Williams' studio, learning directly from other artists and expanding his practice through books like AK Interactive's Figures F.A.Q. 1: Kiril Kanaev, and The Art of... series from Dave Taylor. By 2023, Jackson was taking classes from industry legends who encouraged him to further his studies via Miniature Art Academy. Jackson now takes private lessons with Tim Marsh to push his craft even further.
His accomplishments include being a Golden Demon Finalist (2024), earning Silver Ribbons at MHE (2024 & 2025), and completing commissioned works for Nick Nanavati (Art of War), Conor from Counterpoints40k, and Charlie “Moist Critical” White.
For Jackson, art is about both creation and freedom—freedom from corporate confines and freedom to live authentically through painting. As he puts it: “Paint go on model. Make it exist first, then make it good—or great. That’s our privilege.”
