In this private 1-hour lesson, you’ll learn the fundamentals of freehand painting—adding crisp designs, patterns, symbols, and markings directly onto your miniature without relying on decals. This is an introductory session built to give you a repeatable process you can use on banners, shoulder pads, cloaks, shields, purity seals, and more. We’ll cover how to plan your design, keep lines smooth, and build confidence with simple shapes before moving into cleaner details and stronger contrast. You’ll leave with practical exercises, a step-by-step workflow, and the tools to start adding personality and story to your models. What you’ll learn • Choosing the right surfaces and designs for beginners • Sketching and planning: guidelines, symmetry, and placement • Brush control for clean lines, curves, and sharp corners • Paint consistency for smooth, opaque freehand • Layering, cleanup, and outlining to make designs “pop” What to bring • Bring your own miniature/figure (ideally with a flat area like a banner/shield), or choose a miniature add-on and we’ll provide one. • We provide paints and brushes, or you’re welcome to bring your own.
